“Fight” by Knixxen Out Ft. Opposite I

About

Canadian Rap artists Knixxen Out drops off new visuals for their first video of 2024 by releasing “Fight” as the fourth single off their new album “Aftershock”, which was released this past August. The up-tempo, in your face instrumental produced by Jay Harmz sets the tone for the smooth yet raw lyrics that the artists lay down. Opposite I joins Knixxen Out on the track by adding a catchy chorus that will have the listener coming back again, and again. They also add their own unique style to the production, by fusing rap and rock together, to create a track that stands out above the crowd. The visuals themselves are directed by Sonik Hip Hop, with the shoot taking place entirely at Raise the Bar Training Facility, in Edmonton, Alberta. [More: Official Website]

Review

Here is a review by Greg Johnson of Inspiring Music Videos:

This is a very inspiring prayer through song. I found rather than sitting back to watch a “performance” I was drawn into worship and gratitude. It’s a challenge with praise and worship music, that sometimes after 99 takes, and input from multiple producers and sound technicians, a song becomes so polished and ready for the top 40 hits, but is loses the heart-felt sincerity. Donnie and and his team managed to keep the heart and passion 100% but also create a very well-produced video.

Artist Message

“Time Slips Away” which is the third single released off our new album “Aftershock”, which dropped this past August. The song has a very catchy and heart felt hook sang by the very talented Brayden Bonnett, that tells a story, and keeps the listeners glued to their speakers. Time Slips Away has a very relatable concept about life’s stresses and wanting to be a kid again to avoid the many difficulties that get thrown your way as you make your way on this incredible journey. The video itself portrays building a time machine and going back to a time that isn’t as hectic. A time where you didn’t have to worry about hate, bills, heart break or anything else in between. The song was filmed in Edmonton, Alberta by Sonik Hip Hop, who’s worked with many talented artists, such as Kryple and Lil Windex. The track is brought together by the production of 2 Deep.

“Unthinkable” by Neiyla

Message from Neiyla

“When I was 17 years old I sat down in front of my piano and wrote a song about all the nuisance in the world and how we should find solutions rather than excuses. So excited to finally share this song and message with you now.”

About Neiyla

Neiyla is a singer from Linz, Austria. Below is the bio in English from her website. [Source]

“After many years of singing song ideas into my phone and practicing my vocals I became tired of waiting for someone else to make my dream of becoming a singer a reality for me and decided to take things into my own hands. I started organising my own gigs at the age of 16 and as the years have passed, I managed to not only sing in my home country Austria but also to organise shows in London, Berlin, Edinburgh, Italy, and South England. I am happy to look back on past performances at the Brucknerhaus in Linz, at the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival, the Hampstead Jazz Club in London, the Marianne Mendt Jazz Festival and as the star guest of the International Youth-Theatre-Award 2019. In September 2020 I finally built the courage to release my debut single Good Thing in the style of Pop/RnB which received airplay on major Austrian radio stations like Hitradio Ö3 as well as other European radio stations and TV appearances on ORF2 and Puls4. As a singer & songwriter I can combine my longstanding passions for songwriting and storytelling. With my positive sound and frank lyrics, I want to encourage young people and especially young women to realize their worth, speak their mind and to fulfill their potentials and goals by taking things into their own hands.” ~ Neiyla

John Prine: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

Video

About

March 12, 2018 | Bob Boilen — An American treasure came to the Tiny Desk and even premiered a new song. John Prine is a truly legendary songwriter. For more than 45 years the 71-year-old artist has written some of the most powerful lyrics in the American music canon, including “Sam Stone,” “Angel From Montgomery,” “Hello In There” and countless others.

John Prine’s new songs are equally powerful and he opens this Tiny Desk concert with “Caravan of Fools,” a track he wrote with Pat McLaughlin and Dan Auerbach. Prine adds a disclaimer to the song saying, “any likeness to the current administration is purely accidental.” That song, and his second tune, the sweet tearjerker “Summer’s End,” are from John Prine’s first album of new songs in 13 years, The Tree of Forgiveness, produced by Dave Cobb. It was recorded with his longtime band in Nashville’s legendary RCA Studio A. Guests include Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires. There’s even a songwriter’s co-credit with Phil Spector.

For this Tiny Desk Concert John Prine also reaches back to his great “kiss-off” song from 1991 called “All the Best,” and then plays “Souvenirs,” a song intended for his debut full-length but released the following year on his 1972 album Diamonds in the Rough. It’s just one of the many sentimental ballads Prine has gifted us. Over the years, his voice has become gruffer and deeper, due in part to his battle with squamous cell cancer on the right side of his neck, all of which makes this song about memories slipping by feel all the more powerful and sad.

“Broken hearts and dirty windows
Make life difficult to see
That’s why last night and this mornin’
Always look the same to me
I hate reading old love letters
For they always bring me tears
I can’t forgive the way they rob me
Of my sweetheart’s souvenirs”

John Prine’s latest album, The Tree Of Forgiveness, is due out April 13 on Oh Boy Records. It’s available for pre-order from John Prine’s official web site, iTunes and Amazon.

The Tree of Forgiveness is available for pre-order now.
